Netflix has renewed the show for season 3 even before season 2's December 17 release. This is huge news, but it's not the only one. Another Witcher anime feature is in development. And, perhaps the most bizarre piece of news, a series for kids and families set in the Witcher universe is also in the pipeline. Is it going to teach children how to properly bathe? We don't know yet.
This trailer, which features footage from both season one and the new season 2, was also released. It's worth a look.
The trailer shows Geralt (Henry Cavill), taking Ciri (Freya Allen) to Kaer Morhen. This is the ancestral home of the Witchers School of the Wolf, where he learned to hunt monsters. It also happens to be the subject of the first anime spinoff. While they are still searching for the missing mage Yenneferof Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra), Geralt realizes that Ciri's magic might be the greatest threat of all.
We now know that no matter what happens, the story will not end there. Season two is just a few months away so expect more footage, more information and more interviews on not only season 2, but also what we can expect from season 3, the next anime feature and the children's show. (We can't seem to get over the last one.
This season's cast includes Adjoa Andoh and Graham McTavish, Cassie Clare and Chris Fulton. They will all be reunited on December 17, when The Witcher Returns.
