Lawrence Okolie beats Dilan Prasovic to retain WBO cruiserweight title

Britain's Lawrence Okolie beat Dilan Prasovic in order to retain his WBO World title

Britain's Lawrence Okolie retained the title of world cruiserweight champion with a comfortable third round knockout of Dilan Prsovic.

Okolie defeated the Montenegrin on the Joshua-Usyk Undercard. In the second round, Okolie used a punishing righthand to defeat the Montenegrin, and then a left-hand bodyshot won the contest in the third.

The victory was the 28-year old unbeaten's 17th and 14th victories by knockout.

Callum Smith defeated Lenin Castillo earlier, also by knockout.

LiverpudlianSmith won the second round in his first fight at light heavyweight.

Castillo walked away with the ring and Dominican, 33, was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Okolie targets unification bout

Okolie was barely able to break a sweat while he passed Prasovic, who was unbeaten inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

After Okolie's large right hand caught him, the 26-year old remained standing and landed on his feet. Okolie launched a second attack in round two.

A second big right missed the target just before the referee stopped the fight. Prasovic didn't look at the referee when he was ejected.

All eyes now turn towards a possible unification bout with Mairis Briedis, the IBF world champion Mairis Briedis. Shane McGuigan mentioned this in his post-fight interview.

Smith scores a brutal knockout

Britain's Smith made his debut since he lost his super-middleweight title to Saul Canelo Alvarez, in his last bout in December 2020.

After a few successful shots, he quickly settled in to the heavier weight and then threw a severe right hand over the top.

Castillo fell heavily onto the ground and was immediately treated by the medical staff before being removed from the stadium.

Britain's Campbell Hatton maintained his unbeaten record by winning points over Sonny Martinez.

Although the Uruguayan seemed to have the best shots with many uppercuts hitting their target, the Mancunian, 20 years old, won the battle.
