According to reports, William Shatner is getting ready for a trip into space aboard Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket.

TMZ reported first that Captain Kirk's actor is set to take off in an upcoming civilian flight in the New Shepard capsule. He is yet to announce who will be joining him.

Shatner, who is 90 years old will be the oldest person to launch into space. Blue Origin's second flight, after Jeff Bezos’ July trip, will be Shatner's.

Bezos, his brother Mark and Wally Funk, an 82-year old aviator, and Oliver Daemen, a Dutch teenager, left Earth on that trip. Insider's Morgan McFall Johnsen reported that the group enjoyed stunning views at heights of 66.5 feet above Earth in a flight lasting about 11 minutes.

Although he has not confirmed the reports, sources close to Shatner informed TMZ that the October flight of 15 minutes will be filmed for a documentary.

Shatner expressed an interest in traveling to space before. He tweeted last year a photohopped image of him in a spacesuit asking NASA if he would like to join the SpaceX Crew Dragon Demo-2 spaceflight to reach the International Space Station.

"BTW @NASA- Just in case, the suit fits!" He added a caption.

In July, Shatner stated that there was a possibility that he would go up for a short time and then come back down. Space.com reported that this was a reference NASA's Artemis program which seeks to send people to the Moon in 2024.
