This is quite a surprise. Just now, the BBC posted an announcement on its Doctor Who website. The post states that Russell T Davies will be making an explosive return to television to mark the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who in 2023 and all series after. He is responsible for Doctor Who's revival in 2005 and its success as a worldwide phenomenon. His tenure as a host of the show saw a huge rise in popularity, with great acclaim. His masterful relaunch won him the hearts of the nation, and he created two spin-off series, Torchwood, and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

I have to admit, having enjoyed much of Davies' tenure, this has left my mouth watering. It seems a big mistake to go back in time and re-run a show that was as innovative as the long-running scifi series. I believe that, regardless of whether you like his work, most Whovians would agree that this was a great opportunity to bring new life to the series, especially at its 60th anniversary.

Davies stated that he was thrilled to be back on his favorite show. Davies said that he was thrilled to be back on his favorite show. Russell was the one who built the baton which is about to be passed to him. Doctor Who, BBC, and the entire screen industry in Wales (and let's be real, everyone around the world) have many reasons to be very excited indeed about the future.
