Patel is a former member of House Intel Ranking Members Devin Nunes' staff. He was the chief of staff for Defense Secretary Christopher Miller during the last days of Trump's administration. According to the panel, he is believed to have documents that would show the White House's involvement "preparing for and responding" to the attack on U.S. Capitol
The committee also cites "Peril", which Scavino noted as a reason for calling him. He said that Scavino was by Trump's side on Jan. 6, and helped Trump to develop his messaging during the period leading up to the certification.
Thompson wrote, "It also appears you were with or near former President Trump on January 6th and are a witness concerning his activities that day."
