Congratulations Commander Bond, err, Craig.
Actor Daniel Craig was appointed the Royal Navy's new honorary commander in September. This happened just days before "No Time to Die," which is his last outing as 007 and will be his final.
Craig wore the Royal Navy's work uniform and the three gold bars at his shoulder, which denotes a commander's rank. This is the same rank as the fictional character. Craig stated that he was truly honored and privileged.
Craig was pictured standing beside Sir Tony Radakin (First Sea Lord Admiral), who congratulated Craig on his honorary status.
Radakin stated in a statement that Daniel Craig was Commander Bond over the past fifteen years, a Naval officer who has kept Britain safe through various missions around the world. "That's what every day the Royal Navy does."
Craig brought extreme conditioning to Bond over the 15 years he was there. This reminded viewers of Bond's roots as a Naval Officer who served in World War II and joined the Secret Service.
The new movie was made possible by collaboration between the British Ministry of Defense and the filmmakers. The movie will feature the Royal Navy destroyer HMS Dragon. Royal Air Force Brize Norton in England was used as the backdrop to a NATO base in Norway.
Lashana Lynch plays Lashana Lynch, the first Black female agent to have a license-to-kill in the history of the film franchise. The film premieres in the United Kingdom on Sept. 28 and opens in the USA on October 8.
