Many bird species were more common in cities in the US and Canada as human movement was restricted in order to stop the spread of covid-19.

Nicola Koper, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada and her colleagues analysed 4.3 Million observations by volunteer birdwatchers to determine if numbers were different during pandemic restrictions than in previous years.

Between March 2020 and May 2020, 66 species of birds were observed by birdwatchers in 93 North American states.
