Google's Sycamore quantum processor was the first to break this record in 2019. It was set by Peter Kneffel/dpa/Alamy Live News
Researchers in China have created a quantum computer that can solve a calculation in just 4.2 hours. This is a feat that would normally take thousands of years for a classic computer. The demonstration of quantum computational advantage, which the researchers call it, was achieved using six additional qubits quantum bits. This computer was used by the Google team who first demonstrated this feat in 2019.
Quantum computers can be far more powerful than classical computers in certain types of calculations.
