Marco Asensio scored an impressive hat-trick to help Real Madrid regain top spot in La Liga, with an emphatic win over Mallorca at Bernabeu.

Asensio scored twice within five minutes of the first half - either side Lee Kang-in’s well-taken reply for the visitors.

After half-time, the Spaniard scored from the bottom corner to make it 4-1.

After three minutes, Karim Benzema had scored the opening goal. Real added a fifth with six minutes left. Isco then completed a 6-1 win.

After a 2-1 win over Getafe on Tuesday, Atletico Madrid moved to the top and is now two points behind Carlo Ancelotti's team. Both teams are unbeaten after six matches.

Josep Antoni Gaya Martnez, defender, made a mistake that allowed Real to get off to a perfect start.

Asensio, who moved to Real from Mallorca in 2015, doubled the advantage after Vinicius Junior's cutback was pushed into the goalkeeper's path. Real then extended its advantage further, with a few Benzema assists finishing his second and third goals.

Benzema scored eight goals and had seven assists in La Liga this year, with a deflected goal for the second goal. Vinicius then teed up substitute Isco to complete an impressive performance by the hosts.
