Harry Kane had scored Spurs' 2-0 lead in normal time, before Wolves came back to win the game for penalties
After a two-goal deficit in normal time, Tottenham defeated Wolves in a shootout. They advanced to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
To win the game, Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele lost their earlier attempts to score goals to Leander Dendoncker and Daniel Podence.
Conor Coady, Dendoncker, and Ruben Neves all failed to score in the shootout. Bryan Gil's penalty was decisive for Tottenham.
Next, Spurs will travel to Burnley.
French midfielder Ndombele, a French player, broke into the box and turned Willy Boly the defender to score at Molineux. Captain Kane then made it 2-0 for Spurs on 23 minutes after Dele Alli had played through him.
Belgium's midfielder Dendoncker shot in Rayan Ait-Nouri’s corner before the break, and then set up Podence for equalization.
John Ruddy, Wolves' goalkeeper, kept the game alive by denying Kane twice with brilliant blocks. This allowed Wolves to win the match via spot-kicks.
Neves won the shootout with the score at 2-2. After Gil converted, Pierluigi Gollini (Italian keeper) saved Dendoncker.
The fate of Wolves was sealed when Coady stepped into the bar.
The Midlands side also suffered bad news when defender Yerson Moquero was taken off the pitch on a stretcher in his fifth minute of debut.
