Apple Giving Retail Employees Up to a $1,000 One-Time Bonus

Bloomberg reports that Apple will offer one-time bonuses up to $1,000 to employees of its Apple Stores. Employees who worked during the current global health crisis will receive bonuses.

Retail workers who were hired prior to March 31, 2021, will receive $1,000. Employees who joined after this date will be awarded $500. For the holiday shopping season, employees will be paid $200. Apple will offer bonuses to employees who work in retail stores and online sales staff.

Apple doesn't often offer bonuses to its retail employees. Apple gave $2,500 worth of restricted stock units to its employees in 2018, the last time it offered a bonus. These bonuses were made available to all employees below the level of a director following the implementation of new U.S. taxes laws.

The $1,000 bonuses will not be paid as stock units as the previous bonus. They are intended to be a thank-you for employees' efforts during the pandemic.
