Apple launched iOS 15 on Monday. The software update was reportedly less popular than iOS 14 after its launch last year.
Mixpanel, an analytics company, reported that iOS 15 was installed by 8.5% of iOS users as of Wednesday, 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time. This compares to iOS 14, which was installed at midnight the second day following its release.
Mixpanel measures iOS adoption by measuring visits to apps and websites that use its mobile analytics SDKs. This data is not officially recognized. Apple has not yet shared iOS 15 adoption statistics, although it last reported an iOS 14 adoption rate of 85% in June.
Apple made it clear that iOS 14 users will now be able to receive important security updates. This change likely contributed to iOS 15's low adoption rate, as Mixpanel has not yet seen.
