iOS 15.1’s first beta suggests we could see SharePlay soon

9to5Mac reports that SharePlay is back in iOS 15.1 beta after Apple delayed the major iOS 15 feature to this fall rather than having it launch with the OS upgrade. Although it is not the only feature still to be released, it could prove to be very useful during the current pandemic. It allows you to watch videos, screen-share, and listen to music with others over FaceTime calls. Although it is possible that it will be released sooner than expected, Tuesday's beta may indicate this.
MacRumors has reported that 15.1 beta lets users add their COVID vaccination card to the Wallet App, once they have added it to Health. The Google version of this feature is similar to Google's. Before you can add your vaccine to your phone, you will need to obtain your vaccination information from your doctor or state healthcare system. Apple claims the feature uses the SMART Health Card format. This format is supported by a few states and major vaccine providers. You can click on the link to see the complete list, which includes California, Hawaii and New York as well as pharmacies like CVS and Rite Aid. For more information, please contact your local healthcare provider.

These features that are visible in the iOS 15.1 beta do not necessarily mean they will be in the final iOS15.1 release. SharePlay was introduced in the iOS 15 beta but was later deleted. Apple still claims that SharePlay will be available later in the fall. It is not possible to remove it from an earlier beta. According to Apple, the vaccine card feature will be added in a forthcoming software update.

iOS 15.1 may not be out until the end of this year, considering that iOS 15 was released just yesterday (iOS 14.1 was released about a month later than iOS 14). If this beta is any indication, it may bring some new features when it does appear.
