Kartik Tyagi conceded just one run in the final over of match
Indian Premier League, Dubai: Rajasthan Royals (35 overs), Jaiswal 49 (36), Arshdeep 5-32 Punjab Kings (183-4 20 overs), Agarwal (67), Rahul 49 (33) Rajashan Royals won the match by two runs Scorecard Table
The victory of Rajasthan Royals over Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League was somehow achieved. Punjab Kings failed to score the required four runs from the final over.
Seamer Kartik Tyagi took Nicholas Pooran out of the game, while Deepak Hooda was still needed.
Fabian Allen was unable to contact Kings, leaving them on 183-4. Royals won by two runs in Dubai were also left with this score.
England's Liam Livingstone made earlier 25 runs from 17 balls in Rajasthan's total of 185.
Without Livingstone's England team-mates Jofra Arker, Ben Stokes, and Jos Buttler the Royals are fifth on the table, tied at eight points with fourth-placed Mumbai Indians.
Punjab is seventh on the eight-team table with six points. They have played at least one more game than any other team.
After being delayed in May due to an increase in coronavirus infections in India, the IPL was resumed in United Arab Emirates on Sunday
Royals' remarkable win
This was a remarkable turnaround by Rajasthan, who dropped KL Rohul three times and Mayank Agarwal made 120 runs for the first wicket in under 12 overs.
Even though Rahul scored 49 runs and Agarwal was unable to score 67, Pooran (IPL debutant Aiden Markram) and Chris Gayle's West Indies legend Chris Gayle were still in control.
Markram needed 18 balls from 18 balls to beat Chris Morris, a South African fellow South African, for six. But Punjab couldn't find the boundary.
After Mustafizur Rahman's close 19th over, Tyagi had only four balls left to defend.
Markram received one before Pooran led the third over behind to leave for 32.
Hooda missed the one and was caught by Sanju Samson at wicketkeeper, leaving Allen to swing and miss.
Kings are left out
Kings had made a debut for Adil Rashid, an England leg-spinner. He was costly in conceding 35 runs from three overs.
Livingstone had already snatched Arshdeep Singh for six at mid-wicket when he was caught by Allen two balls later. This was thanks to an incredible effort of the flying Allen.
Yashavsi Jaiswal earned 49, and Mahipal Lombor 43 for Royals. They looked to have been tested by Arshdeep's 5-32 & 3-21 from Mohammad Shami.
The Kings held this game till the very end, with Tyagi's brilliant final over.
