Takumi Minamino scored twice for Liverpool as they beat Norwich City, a Premier League team, at Carrow Road to reach round four of the Carabao Cup.

After four minutes, the visitors were leading as Minamino made a sharp turn from Divock Origi’s knockdown.

Caoimhin Kelleher prevented Norwich from scoring an equaliser just before half-time. This saved Christos Tzolis his penalty with his foot.

Five minutes after the break, Origi crossed Konstantinos Tsimikas’ cross and Minamino added a third.

Both managers made nine changes to the Premier League matches this weekend, with Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool boss handing debuts in the first half to Conor Bradley and Kaide Gordon from the start. Tyler Morton was also named as a substitute.

Gordon, a highly-rated 16-year old, was signed by Championship side Derby County in February for an initial 1.1m. He fired narrowly after driving inside from the right half-way through the first period.

Although Norwich's performance improved over the first period, Adam Idah hit Kelleher directly. Tzolis missed the penalty spot when Bradley fouled Dimitris Gianoulis.

After Pierre Lees-Melou missed an excellent chance to equalise in the second period, Liverpool were out of reach. Minamino's second goal from Alex Oxlade Chamberlain's through ball secured a comfortable win.
