Since October 2016, Manchester City has been unbeaten in Carabao Cup

Riyad Mahrez scored two goals as Manchester City, the holders, came back from behind to thrash League One Wycombe. They also reached the 16th Carabao Cup.

Brandon Hanlan gave the visitors a surprise lead, but Kevin de Bruyne equalized seven minutes later.

Mahrez won his double on either side of the half-time break, while Ferran Torres and Phil Foden beat veteran goalkeeper David Stockdale.

Cole Palmer, 19, was substituted and scored the sixth goal. This was his first goal for the club.

He ran to the halfway line, before curling in a left-footed shot at 20 yards.

City's youth had a great night. Pep Guardiola handed senior debuts to Conrad Egan–Riley, Luke Mbete and Finley Burns as well as Josh Wilson-Esbrand, Romeo Lavia, and Josh Wilson-Esbrand.

With his exceptional control and cutback, Defender Wilson-Esbrand assisted Mahrez with City's second strike.

Victory means Guardiola's team are unbeaten since October 2016, and have reached 16 in the fifth consecutive season.
