Robert Lewandowski, who has scored 41 Bundesliga goals for Bayern Munich, has been awarded the 2020-21 European Golden Shoe.

This award goes to the best goal scorer in all European domestic leagues.

Lewandowski (33), is the second Germany-based player who has won it after Gerd Müller in 1971-72.

He stated, "I dedicate the award to all those who are beside me every day."

After scoring 48 goals, the Polish striker had the most points since Cristiano Ronaldo won the award in 2015.

In his 29 Bundesliga appearances, Lewandowski easily outscored Lionel Messi (30), and Ronaldo (29).

This award was won six times by Messi. Luis Suarez and Ciro Immobile also took home the top spot.

"I would like to express my gratitude to my family, my teammates and the entire FC Bayern team. Lewandowski added that without their support, I wouldn't have won titles like these.

"Sport, as in life, requires that you respect each other, support one another, be fair with others, and act as a role model to others. We're very proud of what we have achieved as a team.
