So here’s one of the worst tweets of all time

I don't subscribe to the widely held belief that Twitter is the end all be all of society. Although it is a frequent visitor, it does not necessarily have to be there all the time. It will occasionally provide something so utterly bewildering, that you have to wonder if it is art or a vision of a dimension/plane where the rules are entirely different.

This one drew me in more than Van Gogh's Starry Night at MoMA. Perhaps there was some truth to it that everyone could find.

Then I realized it was yet another piece of unintelligible drivel from a show who has been doing this for many years, without anyone ever noticing. This is an achievement that deserves respect.

Roger Bennett, who seems to love to read his own words as much his spoken ones, claims that a show that's been on for less than a year and a half has done more to increase the popularity of a sport than... everything that has ever happened in the sport. There have not been multiple World Cup runs by either the USWNT nor the USMNT. Not a generation of people who grew-up playing it becoming adults. This fictional show has been running for 17 months...

I can tell you, Ted Lasso has never been on my TV. I haven't yet subscribed to Apple TV+. It is a favorite show of many friends. They all agree that the soccer part of the show is secondary or tertiary. Many of these friends are avid soccer fans.

This is getting too technical, especially when we are talking about the Men In Blazers show that really hasn't served a purpose since 2017. It was once the welcome mat when soccer fandom was still a secret club. To make you feel like you were on the right track or that you could be part of something.

This is no longer true. The majority of Americans have a basic knowledge of the game. This means that the country's sports fandom doesn't need a cheerleader. Men In Blazers is the only one who has ever been able to do so. It's not like following Phish anymore. According to the evidence I have, three-quarters the charm of soccer is telling people you are a fan. This is all Men in Blazers did. It's a show with comedic segments that don't make sense, analytic segments which aren't very analytical and then an interview in which Bennett will spend at most three minutes asking each question. This means that a 10-minute interview would be at least 90% of Bennett talking.

All Men In Blazers is about celebrating themselves. Two guys say, "Were awesome because we are soccer fans" for about half an hour. They also give us gold stars and pat us on the nose for being supporters. This whole thing is a lot of fun.

Bennett sent me this tweet, which I can reflect on for a while. I know that my fandom has come so far. I am so proud of the country. All I can do is to laugh. Thank you so much.

These guys can make a mistake on any Sunday.

After a day like Sunday's, I urge you all to continue watching everyone on ESPN, NFL Network and CBS. It doesn't. It's too random, there are too many injuries and the teams are too similar, except for a few.

In Week 1, the Packers were dominated by the Saints. Carolina defeated them Sunday. In Week 1, the Cardinals defeated the Titans at home and needed a Vikings kicker in order to beat Kirk Cousins. The Titans defeated the Seahawks in Seattle. On Sunday night, the Bears looked like chum. They beat the Bengals at their home. After beating the Bills in Buffalo, the Steelers were beaten at home by Raiders. They had just come off a short week.

It's the NFL and it just so happens.

This is a missed opportunity

Let's close with the weekend's best miss because we are just that kind of people.

You might want to watch the clip with the sound off, as the PBP guy sounds almost like he just gave up on his lease.
