Surface Duo 2 passes through the FCC with 5G, NFC, and wireless charging support

Microsoft will announce the new Surface Duo 2 smartphone at a special Surface Hardware event on Wednesday, September 22nd. Although rumors suggest a three-camera system for the Surface Duo 2, it appears that the device has been certified by FCC with 5G, NFC and wireless charging support.
Windows Central reports that the dual screen Android device was spotted in FCC documents last week. Although Wireless Power Transfer is mentioned in the documents, it's not clear if wireless charging will be possible using the Qi standard. Windows Central suggests that the Surface Duo 2 might include inductive charging support for the Surface Pen.

FCC documents confirm 5G support and NFC support. Both of these features were absent from the original Surface Duo. The FCC documents also mention ultra-wideband support. This could indicate that the Surface Duo 2 can connect to accessories that support this standard.

The new triple-camera system we were hoping to see on Surface Duo 2 has not been revealed. As seen in leaked photos, this new camera system will likely add a camera bump at the rear of your device. Surface Duo 2 will also come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 processor. Other minor changes include moving the fingerprint reader to the power button and putting the USB-C port on the bottom, right-hand side.

Microsoft's Surface event will begin at 11AM ET/8AM PT on September 22nd. A Surface Pro 8 with Thunderbolt support and a 120Hz display, a new Surface Book 4, a Surface Go 3 and an updated Surface Pro X are all part of what we expect.
