Rodriguez joined Everton in 2012 for 12m.

James Rodriguez, Everton's midfielder, has traveled to Qatar to meet with clubs before considering a move to the Middle East.

After Carlo Ancelotti's departure in summer, Rafael Benitez took over as manager of Goodison.

Former Real Madrid player who signed for Everton at 12m a year back has not played for Benitez this season. He missed several games due to a coronavirus-related problem.

His final game was against Sheffield United, a 1-0 loss on 16 May.

Everton would benefit financially from Rodriguez's wage of 200,000 per week.

Benitez spoke out about his frustration at not being able sign more players due to Financial Fair Play rules.

Benitez stated that Rodriguez's future was up to him prior to the victory over Burnley on September 11. He has the final say. Some markets were open, but then we encountered some problems with the Financial Fair Play rules. We need to look at all options and see what happens.

Rodriguez has played for Porto and Monaco as well as being on loan at Bayern Munich. He made 26 appearances last season in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing nine assists.
