Barack Obama and Donald Trump were political enemies for years. This was evident more than ever during the 2016 presidential election.

Obama believed that Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State, was the Democratic presidential nominee for that year. This is due to her career as a US Senator from New York and as the top US diplomat.

Obama, however, had to plan for the future after Clinton lost to Trump in the presidential election.

As Trump was about to be inaugurated as the 45th US President, Obama rode in a presidential limousine along with Republican Senator Roy Blunt from Missouri, from the White House up to the Capitol.

Trump asked Obama during the ride if he could name his greatest mistake. According to Robert Costa and Bob Woodward, Washington Post journalists, they were referring to a book written by Robert Costa and Robert Woodward.

Insider obtained an early copy of "Peril" which details an interaction between these two men. It could have been a long conversation, but it fell apart.

Trump asked Obama a question while driving and he replied, "What was your greatest mistake?" According to reports, Trump asked his Democratic counterpart what his biggest mistake was.

Costa and Woodward reported that Obama looked at Trump and paused. The outgoing president stated, "I can't imagine anything."

Trump sought to change the subject by asking about the car. "Is this your car?" Obama was asked.

Woodward and Costa explain how Trump made a complete circle after his meeting with Obama in "Peril."

Trump opted to leave the White House with Melania Trump and took a helicopter to Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, before taking off on his last flight on Air Force One.
