Authorities suspect that a body discovered near Grand Teton National Park may be Gabby Petito's remains.

On Sunday night, Charles Jones, an FBI agent, stated that "human remains" were found near the Spread Creek Dispersed campsite area. However they still need to be confirmed by forensics.

He said that the cause of death is still unknown.

Jones stated that although no forensic identification has been made to 100% confirm Gabby's discovery, Jones informed her family.

Jones expressed his sympathy to the Petito family.

Along with local law enforcement, the FBI has been looking for the 22-year old woman who was reported missing in September 11. Nichole Schmidt, her mother, stated that Petito was last seen via Facetime on August 24, 2012.

Schmidt claimed that she received a text on August 30 that Petito had lost her service in Yosemite. However, she doesn't believe it was her daughter who sent the message. According to her family, they have not heard from her since.

Petito was on a cross country road trip with Brian Laundrie, her boyfriend when she vanished. Laundrie was found at his North Port, Florida home on September 1, and police claimed he refused to talk to investigators. He was identified as a "person-of interest" in Petito’s disappearance by authorities.

On Friday, police said that his family had reported him missing since Tuesday. Authorities in Florida have been searching for him at the Carlton Reserve as of Sunday.
