MIAMI -- Dolphins' quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was taken to the locker room after taking a hit by AJ Epenesa, a Buffalo Bills defensive end, during Miami's second drive on Sunday.
Later, the Dolphins expelled him from the game.
Fourth-and-1 was Epenesa's play. He blew past Dolphins right tackle Jesse Davis, and hit Tagovailoa while he threw the pass. Tagovailoa failed to catch the ball and was slow to get up to try to leave the field.
Before he reached the Dolphins sideline he fell to the ground. Trainers attended to him before allowing him to walk gingerly to the sideline. Tagovailoa briefly rested on the bench, before being taken to the locker room. Jacoby Brissett took his place.
Buffalo leads by 14-0 and has sacked Tagovailoa 3 times before his injury.
