A popular RV maker has unveiled a more than $400,000 tiny home in a 'box' built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter - see inside the Asteroid of Happiness

Advanced RV, a popular camper van manufacturer, has transformed a 170-inch Mercedes Sprinter cab from a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter cab to a tiny home within a box on wheels called "Asteroid Of Happiness."

The Asteroid of Happiness was not built in a Sprinter body, unlike many other Sprinter camper vans on the market.

It's instead based on Advanced's "B Box", which was revealed last year. This "box", which completely replaces the Sprinter body, is now available.

"When we found a box that would enable us to meet the clients' objectives on a chassis cab, we pursued building prototypes because we knew the spatial, insulation and off-grid advances a box would provide," Mike Neundorfer (president of Advanced RV) told Insider at the time.

According to the team, creating more interior space by using an in-house-constructed "box" rather than the traditional curved walls of a Mercedes Sprinter van Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van creates greater interior space.

It's also well insulated, so the camper van can be used in all four seasons.

Although Advanced RV did not provide an exact price, Neundorfer stated in an email interview with Insider about the cost of the build. However, Neundorfer said that the prices for the three previous B Box vans ranged between $425,000 to $490,000.

The company has already made plans to purchase 13 additional B Box vans in the future, which is a testament of the success of its in-house production.

The tiny home on wheels measures 24.5 feet in length and stands about 6.7 feet high.
