Former Child Star And ‘The Lucy Show’ Co-Star Jimmy Garrett Dies At 66

Jimmy Garrett, a former child star, was found dead at his California home Friday, September 17. He is best known for his role as Lucille Balls' son Jerry Carmichael in CBS sitcom The Lucy Show. He was just one week away of turning 67. He was less than one week away from turning 67.

Jimmy Garrett was born September 23, 1954 in Los Angles. He made his TV debut at the age of five on the Playhouse 90 anthology series in 1959. Garrett was auditioned by his mother for the Lucille Ball sitcom.

The Lucy Show was a huge success right from the beginning. Garrett appeared in three of its six seasons, which ran from 1962 to 1965. The series moved from Connecticut to California after Vivian Vance quit at the end season 3. Garrett's character was then written off as going off to military school. Candy Moore, his TV sister Chris, went off to college and Ralph Hart, Vivian Vances' son Sherman, moved with his mother after she remarried.

Garrett was also a guest star in episodes of The Twilight Zone and Mister Ed. He also appeared on Burkes Law, My Three Sons, and Mister Ed. He then appeared in the theatrical Munster, Go Home, which was based on The Munsters sitcom, as well as The Carol Channing Show in 1966.

Garrett became an accountant and moved into television's business side during his adult years.
