NASA's Perseverance, the latest Mars rover, was attacked by 100 dust devils within its first 90-days on Mars following landing in February.

Vortices are small whirlwinds that occur on Mars. They can reach up to tens of kilometres in height and width, and they can blow at speeds of up to 100 km per hour. Many of them have been detected by other Mars missions, including the Curiosity rover or InSight lander.

These vortices can lift Martian dust and form dusty columns.
