Rep. Matt Gaetz suggested Friday that Nicki Minaj be the running mate of former President Donald Trump in 2024.
Gaetz was responding in an article by the Daily Beast that stated that Minaj had publicly shared the telephone numbers of two reporters looking into her claim about a person getting swollen testicles following a COVID-19 vaccination.
"My Trinidadian cousin won't get vaccine because his friend got it and became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was just weeks away from being married. Now, the girl has canceled the wedding. Minaj tweeted, "Just pray about it and make sure you're happy with your decision.
Gaetz tweeted "Trump/Minaj 2024" in response to the Beast article reporting her claim.
Minaj disclosed earlier this week that she has not been vaccinated against coronavirus. Because vaccines are required at Met Gala, she said that she will not be attending.
They want you to be vaccinated for Met. It won't be for the Met if I get vaccinated. Once I feel that I have done enough research, it will be. That's what I'm currently working on. Be safe, my love. Minaj wrote that the mask has 2 strings that can be worn to grip your head and face.
She was immediately rebuffed by high-profile people, including Joy Reid, MSNBC host, who attacked her for using her platform of nearly 23 million followers to promote vaccine skepticism.
"You have that platform. It's a blessing. Reid stated that it's a blessing to have that many people listen. They listen to you more than I do. To use your platform to put people into the position of having to die from a disease that they don't need to, oh my God, as a fan, a hip-hop fan and as someone who is your fan, it's so sad.
Tucker Carlson, Fox News host, invited her to speak on the show.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's foremost coronavirus expert, also replied to the question. He said there was no evidence that vaccines cause problems with reproduction.
Despite health officials like Fauci trying to dispel concerns about coronavirus vaccines' safety, Minaj's tweets have had a significant anti-vaxxer effect.
Anti-vaxxers protested outside the Atlanta Centers for Disease Control earlier this week. They chanted, "Down with the CDC Fauci lies to you!" According to video footage, a man in a mask told the crowd that Nicki Minaj had said that he wasn't going to give his vaccine.
