To give Sheffield United the lead against Hull City, Billy Sharp scored his 114th goal.
On his 300th appearance, Billy Sharp scored and missed an opportunity to score a penalty for Sheffield United. The struggling Hull were easily defeated at the MKM Stadium.
Sharp completed a nice move by heading in Morgan Gibbs White's perfect right-wing cross, to get the Blades in front.
Sharp's spot-kick was saved by Matt Ingram, Hull goalkeeper. However, the visitors took the lead after the break.
Two John Egan headers, both from the corners, ended any chance of Hull scoring despite Keane Williams-Potter's consolation.
Slavisa Jokanovic's win extended her unbeaten streak to five games. Meanwhile, the Tigers fell into the relegation zone.
Hull failed to score a win or a goal since the opening of the season. Matt Smith scored high from the box edge and Di'Shon Bernard slid a header into the sidenetting from a George Moncur corner.
Sheffield United was, however, more dangerous than their opponents with eight goals in their two previous games. Ingram stopped a shot from the Gibbs White's box and denied Rhian Brewster from a distance.
Sharp's opening goal was his only chance, as Sharp rose between two defenders to send Gibbs White's sublime cross home on 17 minutes.
Two minutes before the half-time break, Sharp was dealt a cruel retribution by Ingram. Ingram threw himself to his right and parried Sharp's well-struck attempt after Jacob Greaves had brought Sharp down in the box.
The Blades recovered from their disappointment and doubled their lead in the second period. Republic of Ireland defender Egan sailed in from Conor Hourihane’s corner, while Egan skillfully swung away from Mallik Wilks to make space.
Hourihane was able to pick out Egan's near-post run, with Egan managing to squeeze in his effort under pressure from Richard Smallwood and Wilks.
The Tigers rallied, Moncur's close-range attempt was blocked by Ben Davies' boot. Tyler Smith's superb low cross at the farpost was a great goal for the 20-year-old academy graduate Lewis-Potter.
Smith was then awarded a late goal for offside, but Hull managed to avoid a club-record seventh league match without a goal.
Grant McCann, Hull City manager, told BBC Humberside
"I'm disappointed. We came up against very good sides who will only get worse and better. But we can't just keep saying that we had good spells, our play was good.
"Billy Sharp has a grip on Mallik and let Egan go around the back. They played well, but it was disappointing for us. We know there are no penalties or free kicks for this and we need to improve - nobody can stop us.
"We are not yet at the level and it is showing in results. We need to start winning games, and we will continue to work hard to do that."
Billy Sharp, Sheffield United striker, spoke to BBC Radio Sheffield
"It's great to be on the scoresheet because it's a sign that I feel like I've been playing well. Morgan was fantastic and I couldn’t miss it.
"It was disappointing that we missed the penalty, but it didn't cost us. We got the three points.
"The manager wants us all to believe in ourselves, and that's what we are doing now. He said that our set-pieces weren't good enough, so he'll be happy with that."
