After refusing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, a meteorologist who worked at a Michigan television station for more than 30 years was fired.

Karl Bohnak, a Facebook user, stated that NBC affiliate WLUC had terminated his employment following his 33-year tenure.

Bohnak, a vaccine skeptical, stated that he was leaving TV6 as Gray Television, the station's corporate owners, had mandated that anyone entering property owned by Gray be vaccinated against COVID-19. "Since i chose not to take one shot, I was fired."

"Many of your injections have been taken, and that is your right. He said, "It is also my right that I choose the medical options that are best for me." "I have the authority to control my body."

Gray Television, an Atlanta-based publicly traded broadcasting company, didn't immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment. The Biden administration stated earlier this month that all employers employing more than 100 workers must make sure their employees have the COVID-19 vaccination or undergo weekly testing. While some Republicans and businesses have criticized the rule for being too harsh, executives and CEOs including the Business Roundtable have welcomed it.

For months, health officials have urged the public to get vaccinated against coronavirus. According to Johns Hopkins University data, over 55% of US citizens have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 so far.

However, there is a small group of skeptics that believe vaccines are unsafe or unneeded. The vaccine provides significant protection against coronavirus, according to research. For example, people who have not been vaccinated are 11 times more likely to succumb to COVID-19 than those who have been vaccinated. People who are not vaccinated are 29 times more likely to experience severe COVID-19 symptoms.

COVID-19 epidemics are also affecting unvaccinated people. The Delta variant is rapidly spreading in states with low vaccination rates.
