Wolves 0-2 Brentford: Bees claim first Premier League away win

Last update on.
Ivan Toney, a Brentford striker, opened the scoring at Molineux

Brentford won their first victory on the road in Premier League with a win over Wolves at Molineux.

The London side was newly promoted and arrived in the West Midlands with an unbeaten record. They took a lead at half-time with a well-struck Ivan Toney penalty.

For his first goal in top flight, the Bees forward turned provider and found strike partner Bryan Mbeumo at their back post.

Wolves, who failed to score in their first three league defeats at-home, didn't get a chance in the west Midlands sunshine, despite having more possession.

Adama Traore was a constant threat due to his speed and physicality. Substitute Hwang Heechan impressed again in his second appearance. However, Bruno Lage, manager, will be concerned about his side's lackluster cutting edge.

Brentford's only problem was Shandon Baptiste's second yellow card for an unnecessary offense, just five minutes after receiving his first. He had pulled down Francisco Trincao, who was in possession.

Thomas Frank's side rise to ninth in the table, and will face Liverpool in their next league match. Wolves fall to 14th, with a trip at Southampton following.

Wolves rue missed chances... again!

Lage, Wolves manager, was not aware of the enormity of his task in filling Nuno Espirito Santo’s large shoes at Molineux. He will not need any reminders.

Under the new boss, the hosts have only scored two goals and lost four out of five league games.

The Portuguese manager's silver lining will be his team's ability to put men forward and create opportunities. This was evident in their narrow home defeats against Manchester United and Santos Tottenham. But these openings must start translating into goals or points.

Traore could be difficult to play at times, but his final delivery was not precise. Raul Jimenez couldn't guide his header narrowly enough to reach its intended target on the rare occasion that it did.

The Premier League's most prolific Mexican striker, the out-of-form Mexican striker, has made 14 attempts to score without scoring.

Brentford closed the door after being reduced to 10 men. Kristoffer Ajer was able to block the crucial goal that Trincao scored late on.

Brentford, on the other hand, seized their chance with grace to win in six minutes.

Marcal wrestled Toney to the ground, and then he climbed to his feet to win the penalty. The goalkeeper was not happy about this.

Mbeumo was then awarded the second goal when he slid the ball to him. This is an exciting combination for the Bees who have the potential to score another strike combination.
