CNN Politics reports that Mike Pence, former Vice President, is preparing for a possible 2024 presidential run. He is also expanding his operations amid headlines suggesting a breakup of any relationship with Donald Trump's supporters.

CNN was told by top aides to the ex-vice president that Pence had increased his team to around 20 people this summer, and that John Fogarty, a prominent Republican fundraiser was among them.

CNN reports that Pence also has a new office space in Washington DC. He and his aides are thought to be looking into a path to the presidency.

According to the media outlet, his schedule points towards a possible run. CNN reported that he plans to visit Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina in the next few months - early primary states.

Florida Governor's appearances at political events Ron DeSantis, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, and a meeting at the family of a Marine who was killed in Afghanistan withdrawal suggest that Pence is a presidential candidate.

Erick Erickson, CNN interviewer, stated that Pence "I believe he is doing what he has to: saying the right thing, defining himself as himself, not Trump's surrogate and helping others."

CNN reported that Pence's rumored run for the Republican party nomination is coming at a time when Pence's relationship to the former vice president and his supporters has reportedly deteriorated.

According to Robert Costa and Bob Woodward, veteran reporters, Trump said to Pence that he didn't want to be friends anymore and that he had "the wrong man" four years earlier. This was on January 6, 2021.

The New York Times reported in the past that Trump attempted to persuade his deputy to overturn the election results during the days following the Capitol Riot. Trump said that "you can either go down as a patriot or as a pussy."

According to Woodward's book, Costa and Costa claim that the relationship fell apart so badly that Sen. Lindsey Graham told Trump that he had to "repair all the damage" with Pence.

CNN reported that Trump and Pence last spoke in April.

CNN reported that Pence's team rejected the idea of putting a pause on his plans, while other potential Republican presidential candidates are said to be putting off planning runs until it is clear if Trump is running.

"Mike will look at it and ask, "Where am I being called?' One person close to Pence said that Mike would look at the situation and ask, 'Where am I being called to serve?' "That's not going be stopped by any man or women."
