North Port Police Public Information Officer Josh Taylor spoke with CNBC's "The News With Shepard Smith" shortly before police entered the North Port residence where Brian Laundrie lives with his parents. He stated that investigators were "speaking with the family, but we are not speaking to Brian at the moment."
Wyoming is currently conducting a physical search for Gabby Petito, a 22-year-old Florida woman. After she set out on a cross-country roadtrip with Brian Laundrie, her family was last to hear from her for more than three weeks.
Brian was only described by police as an individual of interest.
Taylor stated that he doesn't believe Brian was at home when authorities spoke to his family.
Taylor confirmed that Taylor called the police through their attorney to speak to the Laundrie family.
Taylor stated, "It's important that we speak with the family. But that's only half of it." "Hopefully they'll help me get Gabby. Our focus is on getting her home.
Jim Schmidt, Petito’s stepfather, said to "The News With Shepard Smith” that it was "really difficult to understand" why Brian hadn't spoken with authorities.
Schmidt said that it was incredibly frustrating and incredibly frustrating and that they should help us. This is all we are asking for in a Friday night interview. "They aren't talking so our pleas have been made public. That's all we hope for is that they finally answer our pleas and give us some information.
