Florida man used Disney employee iPad to magically skip lines

You can find countless blogs and books that will help you have an unforgettable Disney World experience. But one Florida man found the best travel hack by using an app that allows you to skip lines on an employee iPad. (via Gizmodo) According to WESH2 news in central Florida, Rennan Carletto, 30, allegedly did that by giving himself and others a unauthorized jump at the front of the line while he was traveling through the park.
WPTV reports that Carletto was taking an unapproved tour of Hollywood Studios, Disney World's worst park. He also used the iPad to bypass lines by making reservations overrides. One Disney World fan site suggests that Carletto may have taken advantage of Disney's system which allows people with disabilities to reserve specific times for rides so that they don't have to wait in lines. According to WDW News Today's quote, this would agree with the claim that the app was a private app only for qualified guests and is only available on Disney World devices.

FastPass is not as good when you have access to Disney's private app.

Carletto managed to pull it off. It seems easier than the FastPass/MaxPass reservation system, which is being replaced by Genie Plus.

As with all travel hacks, there were some minor tradeoffs. Carletto had to return the iPad to a Disney investigator and was given a warning for trespassing. According to reports, he claimed that he didn't know the iPad was stolen but it wasn't reported as such.

Although I wouldn't recommend trying to obtain an employee iPad, this is one piece of advice that I received from someone who was born in Florida. It's almost winter. Or at least it's close. This means that Disney will enter what's usually its slow season. Although the wait times will not be as long as they were for Carletto's friend, they are likely to be much shorter in the off-season.
