Data remains a vital part of the marketing world – TechCrunch

Brands have a lot of problems with attribution. How do you spend money even if you lose signal to the platform? Greg Gillman, chief revenue officers of MuteSix in Los Angeles, states that if Facebook is too skewed and Google is on the last click, it can sometimes look like things are not working. To help companies make informed business decisions, we are building statistical models that show information at higher-than-the-platform level.
Another week, another recap of growth. TechCrunch has been hard at work expanding our editorial content. Anna Heims interview with MuteSix was one example. We are also increasing the number of guest posts for growth marketing. We have a recap featuring Jonathan Metrick as guest columnist. This episode is from the Equity podcast and features Metrick, TechCrunch's Managing Editor Danny Crichton, and TechCrunch Senior Editor Mary Ann Azevedo.

TechCrunch will help you find the top growth marketers for startups. We will share your recommendations with everyone by completing this short survey.

We are giving away one ticket to Disrupt via the Experts survey. You can see the Disrupt schedule and then read on for details about the giveaway.

Would you like to submit 10 recommendations in order to increase your chances of winning? While we love your enthusiasm, we ask that only one recommendation be submitted for each marketer you have worked with.

MuteSix, a performance marketing agency, focuses on data and content to increase DTC ecommerce. Anna interviewed Greg Gillman from MuteSix as part our TechCrunch Experts series. This interview focuses on performance marketing, how MuteSix differs from other agencies, and the importance data. Gillman states, "There's another piece that I believe is super important but often overlooked: first-party information." We work with brands in order to acquire as much first-party data possible, segment it, and then use it.

(Extra Crunch). Use cohort analysis to help startups grow smarter. Jonathan Metricks guest column discusses not only the importance of cohort analysis, but also why it is important, especially for startups. He uses Black Friday 2020 as an example. Metrick states that smart marketers can leverage cohort analysis to eliminate biases in averages and blended metrics. Segmenting ARPU by organic and paid channels is one way to do so. This allows you to measure the sustainability of customer growth.

TikTok, influencers around the clock: Metrick joined Equity to share his knowledge about growth marketing in the changing COVID-19 environment. This episode is worth listening to.
