Jonathan Metricks guest column discusses not only the importance of cohort analysis, but also why it is important, especially for startups. He uses Black Friday 2020 as an example. Metrick states that smart marketers can leverage cohort analysis to eliminate biases in averages and blended metrics. Segmenting ARPU by organic and paid channels is one way to do so. This allows you to measure the sustainability of customer growth.
