The Alaska Airlines Visa Business Card offers a great welcome bonus and amazing perks to keep the card. This card is one I own and it is worth looking into if you don't have it.

You can read my complete review of the Alaska Airlines Business Card here. Below, I want to share eight reasons why you should apply for this card.

1. Welcome Bonus Of 60K Alaska Miles

After spending $3,000 within the first 90 days, the Alaska Visa Business Card will give you a welcome bonus of 60,000. This is only a part of the bonus. I'll discuss the remainder of the bonus further below.

This is a large number of miles. However, I believe Alaska Mileage Plan miles are the most valuable mile currency in terms the value per mile. Alaska Mileage Plan miles are valued at 1.8 cents per mile, so those 60,000 miles can be worth $1,080.

Mileage Plan miles can be so valuable because you can redeem them for travel with a select number of airlines partners and also because you are allowed to stopover free even on one-way flights. I have redeemed 70,000 Mileage Plan points for a first-class Japan Airlines ticket from Tokyo, Chicago. Alaska Airlines recently joined the oneworld alliance. This opens up many new long-term redemption options for Alaska Airlines award tickets.

2. Alaska Companion Certificate As Part Of Bonus

The Alaska Visa Business Card offers a companion fare to Alaska, along with a welcome bonus of 60,000 Mileage Plan points. This is a new offer that allows you to receive one even if you have not yet completed minimum spending.

Only $99 plus tax and fees will be required. Prices start at $22.

Alaska's companion fare can prove to be very valuable

3. Alaska Companion Certificate Every Year On Anniversary

Each year, on the Alaska Visa Business Card account anniversary, you will receive an Alaska companion certificate. The cost of the second passenger is $121+, plus $99 taxes and fees.

You pay just $75 annually for the card (if you have one cardholder, $50 per cardholder for the business), and then in the end, it costs less than $200 per year to get a companion certificate. This is an amazing deal.

There are many airlines that offer companion certificates, but the Alaska companion certificate is my favorite.

It can be used for one-way, roundtrip or multi-city travel.

You can upgrade your companion to earn miles.

You don't have to be the cardholder to use it. As long as the ticket is paid with a card that you own, you can use it to benefit someone else.

I believe this alone should be enough to make the card worth your while.

4. Application for the Alaska Business Visa does not count towards 5/24

Chase has the 5/24 restriction, which means that you won't usually be approved for a Chase credit card if you have opened five or more new cards accounts within the last 24 months. Applying for Alaska Visa Business Cards and most business cards should not count toward this limit if you are trying to keep below it.

This is because the card will not appear on your credit report. This card is worth seriously considering if you want to keep your credit limit below that amount.

5. Free Checked Bag On Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines offers free checked bags on all flights if you fly with any frequency. Alaska charges $30 for a checked bag. This could help you save up to $420 on your roundtrip trip.

6. Buy Alaska Lounge Access For $25

Alaska Lounge Day Passes are 50% off for Alaska Business Card holders. The Alaska Lounge day pass costs $25 and is normally $50. This is a great deal! You can enjoy snacks and complimentary drinks in these lounges. You could spend more than $25 on a couple of drinks at the airport bar.

This could be a more cost-effective option than purchasing an Alaska Lounge membership for someone who only travels Alaska Airlines occasionally.

7. 20% Back On Alaska Airlines Inflight Purchases

Alaska Visa Business Card holders can get 20% off on all inflight purchases including food and Wi-Fi. This card could be very valuable if you fly Alaska frequently.

8. 3x Miles On Alaska Flights

Alaska Visa Business Card gives you 3x miles per dollar on Alaska Airlines purchases

There are other credit cards that offer 5x points on airfare purchases. However, I would like to point out that Alaska miles are an extremely valuable currency and that the program does not partner with major transferable points currencies.

Some may prefer to spend their Alaskan spending on this card, as 3x Alaska miles is a solid return.

Bottom line

The Alaska Visa Business Card is a good card to apply for. It has a low annual fee and offers a 60K mile welcome bonus.

The companion certificate that you receive every year makes this card a card worth keeping for the long-term. It is why I enjoy Alaska credit cards so much.
