Dr. Anthony Fauci Spells Out How Far Away U.S. Is From Ending COVID-19 Pandemic

According to Dr. Anthony Fauci, the U.S. remains in pandemic mode and has new COVID-19 infection rates that are 16 times greater than those required to end the public healthcare crisis.
Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), stated in an interview published by Axios on Thursday that suppressing the virus is the ultimate goal. However, Fauci said that 160,000 coronavirus cases per day are not an acceptable level of control.

Fauci said that you cannot live with 100,000 infections per day in a country this large. To feel comfortable, you must get to 10,000.

Fauci stated last month that the spread of the transmissible delta variant, which is responsible for an increase in infections among people who are not vaccinated, could be contained by 2022's spring if the majority of those who have received the shot receive it.

Fauci stated that although you will still get infected if there are more people who have been vaccinated, it is not a threat to public health.
