Apple has said it will not allow Epic Games to be republished in the App Store unless they agree to follow the same rules. This is in response to South Korea's recent bill that required Apple and Google to permit alternate payment methods in their apps.
Apple maintains that Epic is not under any obligation to be in the App store. According to an Apple spokesperson, Epics' return to the App store would be welcomed if they agreed to follow the same rules as everyone else. Epic has admitted that they breached contract, and there is no legal basis to reinstate their developer account.
Although the South Korean legislation is not yet in effect, Apple says that it will. However, if it does, Apple claims that it won't impact its process of approving developer accounts. Apple won't consider Epic's request unless it complies with the App Stores App Review Guidelines.
Fortnite, one the most loved video games worldwide, is currently unavailable in the App Store from August last year. Apple eventually terminated Epics' developer account due to Fortnite's update, which bypassed the App Stores In-App Payment requirement to avoid Apple paying the 30-percent cut. Epic sued Apple in May. A verdict is yet to be reached.
