Premier League predictions: Lawro v The Vaccines singer and Man Utd fan Justin Young

All eyes and ears will be on Old Trafford Saturday, where Cristiano Ronaldo will make his highly-anticipated second Manchester United debut.
BBC Radio 5 Live broadcasts the match against Newcastle at 15:00 BST.

Mark Lawrenson, a BBC football expert, says that Ronaldo won't necessarily start. "But he will certainly play some part – and, yes, I wouldn't be surprised if he scores."

Lawro will be making predictions against a range of guests for all 380 top flight matches this season.

This week's guest will be Justin Young, guitarist and singer of indie rock band The Vaccines. His new album, Back In Love City, is out Friday.

Justin Young was a Manchester United fan growing up in Southampton. He explained that his family supported Southampton, and he didn't want him to support the same team. "I was five years old, and Manchester United was the only team I knew of."

Justin, a United fan, is excited about Ronaldo's return but is not sure what to expect from Reds this season.

He said that he was starting a campaign once again with "what looks like, on the surface, a pretty fantastic team - perhaps even more with the return to CR7."

"But it's been almost 10 years since we last won something so, like many United fans before me, I feel like I'm going to be continually disappointed."

To be completely honest, I am not a natural optimist. Although we have a great team and some outstanding players, I don't know how we will perform. I don't know enough about how we will set up and play this year.

"Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, a United legend, is what I remember hanging on my wall as a child.

"He will always be a United great, forever be my hero, but given the time he had as manager and the starting lineup he now has I believe it is up to him to deliver now and prove those who doubt him wrong."

The Vaccines' fifth studio record, Back in Love City, is their fifth since their 2011 debut. All four previous albums reached the top five, while Come Of Age reached number 1.

LAWRO'S PREDICTIONS

If not stated otherwise, games start at 15:00 BST

SATURDAY

Crystal Palace v Tottenham (12:30)

Although Tottenham has not been able to do anything extraordinary so far, they have done very well to win every Premier League match 1-0. This is especially important considering that their defense is weak.

Harry Kane is back and scoring again for England, but Spurs may be without Son Heung-min this Saturday due to a calf injury sustained while on international duty with South Korea.

Even though Son may not be fit, I still think Spurs will win this game and keep their 100% winning streak alive. However, I am not worried about Crystal Palace's inability to win the league under Patrick Vieira.

The Eagles scored a great point against West Ham and I'm seeing a lot more of them this season.

Lawro's prediction for Lawro: 0-1

Justin's prediction is that Palace will be facing a difficult task. Spurs are looking good, but they are not looking very good. 0-3

Arsenal vs. Norwich

Arsenal has had a difficult time so far, but they are sure to get something out this bottom-of the-table match.

We are aware that Norwich face a difficult season fighting the drop, and that they are prepared for it. However, Arsenal fans expect much better.

If the Gunners lose this game at home against a team most people think will be relegated then Mikel Arteta's pressure will really increase.

Lawro's prediction for the future: 2-0

Justin's prediction Although Arsenal has better players than Norwich, it seems like they are in serious trouble at the moment. Norwich will be there hoping to get something. 1-1

Brentford v Brighton

Brentford, who have won three of their first three league games, is still unbeaten. Because the home fans will be having a great time, Brighton can expect a loud atmosphere.

Although the Seagulls started brightly by winning their first two matches, they struggled against Everton last week. I believe that points will be shared.

Lawro's prediction is 1-1

Justin's prediction is that Brentford will be a classic team, newly promoted with puppy dog enthusiasm. The Premier League shines through even though the sheen hasn't worn off. I live in West London so I will be backing the Bees. 1-0

Leicester v Manchester City

Manchester City still hope they can play Brazil duo Ederson or Gabriel Jesus, but I still like them here without them. Scott Carson would be third-choice goalkeeper, as Zack Steffen is not available.

Leicester have a history against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City. They beat them in the Community Shield last month. But, the Foxes will be facing a different animal.

Lawro's prediction for 1-2

Justin's prediction 1-2

Manchester United vs Newcastle

Newcastle desperately needs a win. Old Trafford on the day Ronaldo returns is not the place or time for them to get it.

What type of Ronaldo is Man Utd getting

Ronaldo's arrival at Manchester United has made a significant improvement. Ronaldo will not be playing full-backs, as he brings with him.

It will be a matter of "you stay up there and we will get it to you". Although it is simple, why not do that with Ronaldo on your side? He is so skilled in the air.

He will score a lot if he receives the same service from his teammates as you would expect.

Lawro's prediction for 3-0

Justin's prediction 3-0

Southampton vs West Ham

Southampton is another team that has not won, but their performance so far has been much better than the results they had in their first three matches.

West Ham have won two of the three matches and would have a 100% record, if they hadn’t lost their lead twice at home against Crystal Palace prior to the international break.

It's going to be close. However, I have a sneaky feeling that Saints will grab the points and end their wait for victory.

Lawro's prediction for 2-1

Justin's prediction To be completely honest, I don't know where either team is at this point in the season. However, I will choose Southampton for sentimental reasons. 1-0

Watford v Wolves

After starting the season with a win against Aston Villa, Watford has lost both of their last two games. I don't think that streak will end this weekend.

Wolves have not scored a goal or a point so far, but they have had many chances. That will change quickly, regardless of whether Raul Jimenez, a Mexican striker is allowed to play.

Lawro's prediction for 1-2

Justin's prediction: It is difficult to predict this one. 2-2

Chelsea v Aston Villa (17:30)

Chelsea's draw with Liverpool was impressive before the international break. They were the stronger side with 11 men, and still did well when down to 10.

Aston Villa will not lack energy or effort, but the Blues should be too strong.

Chelsea's only problem may be if Romelu Lukaku, their 97.5m striker, doesn't get better from the thigh injury he sustained playing for Belgium last weekend. However, it does not sound serious.

Lawro's prediction for the future: 2-0

Justin's prediction is that Chelsea will win the title. They are certainly in the discussion when it comes down to the title. Liverpool is a great city, but Liverpool should be seen more. 3-1

SUNDAY

Leeds v Liverpool (16:30)

Leeds has struggled a bit this season, but that's what I see. They aren't struggling to my mind, let's just say that.

Although there are many positive aspects to Marcelo Bielsa’s side play, they are still very easy to grasp. This is something that I hoped would change.

This hasn't happened so I am joining Liverpool. Reds will have many chances in front of goal.

Lawro's prediction for 1-2

Justin's prediction 0-2

MONDAY

Everton v Burnley (20:00)

Everton has made a great start under Rafa Benitez, and I expect that it will continue.

Burnley will be a challenge for them but the Toffees are strong enough to make it bearable.

They are now playing good football and Benitez is helping them to be competitive. It's a great mix.

However, I am concerned about Burnley. Although you know Sean Dyche will get the best out of his players, it seems that he has had to do a lot of work to keep them from getting into trouble this season.

Lawro's prediction for the future: 2-0

Justin's prediction is that Burnley are insecure enough to make something of this. 1-1

Lawro spoke to Chris Bevan, BBC Sport.

How did Lawro do last time?

Lawro and Jungle's Tom McFarland drew in the final round before the international break. Both received five correct results in 10 matches, with one exact score for a total 80 points.
