Epic Games asked Apple to restore its Fortnite developer account to allow it to release the game in South Korea. This is following the passage of a bill which will require Apple and Google to allow apps to use alternate payment systems.
Epic asked Apple to reinstate our Fortnite developer account. Epic stated this in a tweet via the Fortnite official account. Epic plans to re-release Fortnite in Korea on iOS, offering Epic payment and Apple payments side-by-side in accordance with the new Korean law.

It is unclear whether Apple will accept the request or if Epics intentions really are since Epic used Apples responses as a way to spring its original #FreeFortnite legal trap.
After Epic had introduced a direct payment system for Fortnite that bypassed Apple's, Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store hours in August 2020. Epic sued Apple, launching a bitter legal battle between both companies. We are still waiting for a verdict on the case, which went to trial in May. Fortnite was not available on the App Store throughout this time.
Apple did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
