Google Search on desktop goes dark, theme finally rolls out to everyone

Google has finally launched a dark theme for Search on Desktop after months of testing it. The Google Search dark theme has been slowly rolling out to macOS and Windows 10 users, as Matt Navarra, a social media consultant, noticed.

Google began testing a dark theme on the internet late last year, just a few months after it introduced Search on Android with a dark theme. In February of this year, the A/B testing was extended to a larger number of users.

You will be able enable dark theme in your desktop browser as soon as you get the notification "Dark theme is available". The dark theme doesn't just work with Google's Chrome browser. The dark theme works well with third-party browsers like Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge. You can quickly toggle the dark theme on or off by clicking on the toggle at the top right corner.

Although a larger rollout of the feature has begun, it could take a few more weeks before all users are able to use it. Contrary to Google's most popular Android apps which had a dark mode several months ago, the desktop versions are still not available.
