Armed robber shot in face by armed victim in Texas just days after permitless carry begins

Texas police shot an armed robber in the face after his victim pulled out a gun and fired at him. This happened just days after a Texas law was passed that allows residents to carry handguns in Texas without permits.
"He was shot in his face once. He is now in the hospital. He will live. He is conscious and breathing now," Houston Police Department Lieutenant R. Willkens stated.

According to SBG San Antonio, the incident occurred Wednesday evening in Houston as the victim was walking to Shell station to purchase a few items.

The suspect in this case was also dropped off at the scene. He approached the victim and lifted his shirt to reveal a gun. Then he demanded that he pay for any valuables.

However, the victim was also armed, and pulled out his gun and shot the suspect in the head. The suspect is currently in hospital and police custody.

The victim is not expected to face any charges, since he was only defending himself.

"Hes being extremely cooperative. Willkens stated that the victim has no criminal record.

This incident occurs after Gov. Greg Abbott signed a "constitutional Carry" bill this summer, allowing Texans the right to carry handguns without having to undergo training or obtain permits.

Abbott stated that he had signed into law laws today that protect gun rights at the June bill signing. "But today I signed documents which instilled freedom within the Lone Star State."

The law became effective on September 1.
