Italy 5-0 Lithuania: The Azzurri score four times inside 30 minutes

Italy is six points ahead of the rest in Group C's top spot

European champions Italy defeated Lithuania to become the first team to win 37 consecutive games.

There was speculation that the Azzurri might have broken the record in last Sunday's goalless draw against Switzerland.

Roberto Mancini's team ended all doubts with Everton's Moise Kaan, on loan at Juventus, scoring twice.

Giovanni di Lorenzo and Giacomo Raspadori scored the goal that secured Italy's first victory since Euro 2020.

Some claimed that Italy had won the longest unbeaten streak of any national team at the weekend. Brazil however, refuted the claim.

They claim they were also unbeaten in 36 games between 1993-96, despite the confusion around a match against a Romanian B team during that period.

Italy won the match, scoring four goals in the first 30 minutes of a match that was their first in history.

Mancini's team has not lost a match since the defeat to Portugal on October 10, 2018.

With four games left, the Azzurri lead Group C by six points. Switzerland is second with two games.
