Android 12’s last beta brings a few makeovers and new widgets

Google today released the final Android 12 beta, before the OS launches. It includes some of the visual changes and features that were announced back in Android 12. Beta 5 includes the beautiful geometric clock widgets, a redesign calculator, and a new shortcut on the lock screen.
According to 9to5Google the clock app also received some updates. It now has a new design and animations. The colors are also responsive to your phone's theme.

9to5Google reports that Beta 5 also brings the promised Material You overhaul to the calculator app, complete with pastel colors as well as more playful buttons. Heres new vs. old:

XDA has reported that the lock screen now features a device control shortcut. This shortcut lets you control smart home devices by tapping a button after you have woken up your phone screen. Although the device controls were already available from Android 11's power menu, they are now located in a more convenient location. This button joins the Google Wallet shortcut, which appeared on the lock screen in Beta 2

Android Police has reported that Pixel owners who have the beta version now have an improved search bar. It will display contacts, matching settings and other information, as well as the app and Google search results it used to retrieve. This feature is now available to you. We had seen some hints in betas in the form setting screens and APIs.

You can find 9to5Google and XDAs complete roundups of some of the minor tweaks that were made in Beta 5. If you'd like to test the changes yourself, and have a compatible device, follow our guide to installing the beta. The OS will be available in a few weeks. However, there may be some issues.
