Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors' player, took to Twitter this week for tips on getting started with crypto. He received responses from thousands of people, including MicroStrategy boss Michael Saylor and Charles Hoskinson, cardano founder, and Tom Brady, football star.
On Tuesday, a player of the National Basketball Association started a thread asking for advice. This thread was followed by over 20,000 replies. Saylor, data provider Coinmarketcap and Cardano's Hoskinson, as well as Binance exchange Academy, referred him to resources.
Later on Tuesday, exchange FTX posted a humorous video on Twitter announcing that Curry would join its ranks and invest in a crypto firm for the first-time. FTX stated in a press release that Curry's role as ambassador is to increase the visibility of the crypto company and to "tout the viability cryptocurrency to new audiences around world."
Curry stated in the statement, "I'm thrilled to partner with someone who demystifies crypto space and removes the intimidation factor of first-time users."
FTX was founded by Sam Bankman-Fried, a crypto billionaire. It is third in terms of volume after Coinbase and Binance. In June, the company reached a deal with Tom Brady (NFL star) and Gisele Bndchen (supermodel), under which they would take an equity stake and receive crypto.
Curry said, "FTX is likeminded when it comes back to the community and I can't wait for what we can accomplish together."
The partnership also includes FTX contributing an annual contribution to Ayesha's charity Eat.Learn.Play. which focuses on improving nutrition, education, and active living for American children.
After meeting with Stephen, it became clear that he was a perfect fit for FTX. Bankman-Fried, CEO of FTX, stated in the press release that his tireless charity work and ferocious work ethic to be the best in whatever arena he steps into, whether it's basketball, investing, or business, perfectly align with FTX core values.
Bankman-Fried said, "I look forward working with Stephen to create positive impact for the people who most need it in this world,"
