Amazon devices offer the best value for money. The company's tablets are limited in power but they make up for it with a price so low that it seems almost too good to believe, especially when they are on sale right now. The Kindle is a different story. These devices are more expensive and less frequently on sale, which makes them even more attractive.
Prime Day is the best time to purchase any Amazon device. They're typically about half-off, but right now Fire Tablets or Kindles are 30% off. This is as good a deal outside of Prime Day. To find the best deal for you, make sure to check out our guides on finding the perfect Kindle or Fire Tablet.

The entry-level Kindle is still a solid ebook reader. And the new model has a backlight that illuminates the 6-inch Ek touchscreen. This means you can read even in the dark. This is our top-rated Kindle. This is the cheapest Kindle price we have seen this year, and it's only $5 less than Prime Day. You will get three months free with the Kindle Unlimited deal. This gives you access to a huge library of ebooks. After three months, Kindle Unlimited costs $10 per month. Set a reminder to cancel if it's not convenient for you.
The Paperwhite is worth the upgrade due to its waterproofing and higher resolution screen. It costs less than the plain Kindle and allows you to enjoy the pleasures of reading at the beach, pool, or bathtub. It has a flush display and is IPX8 rated, meaning that it can be submerged in water for up to two hours. Learn more about the device's features here.
The Kindle Kids Edition, the most basic Kindle on the market, comes with parental controls and Amazon's 2-year worry-free guarantee. Amazon will replace your Kids Edition Kindle if it falls down stairs due to your child trying to make it bounce like a slinky. This alone is worth the extra cost. You also get a 1-year subscription to Amazon Kids+ which allows your children to access a wide range of kid-friendly books. The subscription will automatically renew after one year at $3 per month. Set a reminder if it is not convenient to continue.
Fire Tablet Deals
Amazon Fire HD 10 Photograph
Amazon's new Fire HD 10 tablet arrived earlier in the year with more RAM, and a brighter display. This makes it more powerful than its 8-inch counterpart. This tablet is our favourite and most affordable Amazon tablet. It has faster performance, more storage and a 10-inch HD display that looks even better. The Plus model, which has an additional gigabyte of RAM, is also available for $130 ($50), while the new productivity bundle costs $210 ($90). Bundle includes a keyboard and software designed for work. This makes the Fire HD 10 more powerful, provided you don't use Google Office Suite, which is not compatible with Amazon hardware.
The HD 10 is more beautiful, but the Fire HD 8 tablet is very capable for the price. It is easier to use because of its smaller size. This is our favorite choice for traveling. We would choose the Plus model with 3 gigabytes of RAM instead of 2. It's currently on sale for $80 (30).
Our top choice for children under 7 is the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition. It is small enough to be used by younger children and has a padded interior that won't break if dropped. You also get a two-year, no-questions-asked replacement plan and a one year subscription to Amazon Kids+.
The Fire HD 10 Kids Pro Edition is a lighter case that can be used for older children (about 8 years old). It also offers more apps options. You can still set up parental controls.
