United states that certification checks for Covid-19 are "likely" to become mandatory starting 1 October
Manchester United will begin Saturday's match against Newcastle with Covid-19 spot-checks at Old Trafford.
Old Trafford is not yet mandatory.
The club says they expect to require proof of vaccination in the Premier League starting 1 October.
For fans aged 18 or over, it is recommended that they prove they have not been double-jabbed or had a negative side flow or PCR test within 48hrs of the game.
Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, announced in July that he would require certification for venues where large crowds gather. This includes sporting venues with capacities exceeding 20,000.
United is the latest Premier League team to implement spot-checks. This is in accordance with the Premier League's matchday protocols 2021-22 season. These protocol states that fans must "prove" they have been fully vaccinated.
The club released a statement saying that Covid certification checks would be required for large events starting in October 2021.
"In accordance with Premier League guidance this is expected to be applied at all Manchester United matches in Old Trafford."
Supporters attending matches at stadiums in Brighton, Chelsea, and Tottenham are already subject to mandatory screening.
