Variety and Deadline report that Phoebe Waller Bridge has decided to quit Amazon's Mr. and Mrs. Smith series. She was initially set to star alongside Donald Glover. However, Hollywood publications have reported that creative differences between the Fleabag creator and Waller-Bridge led to her leaving the role.
Glover will continue to be aboard, while Waller Bridges will assume a new role. Glover's exit was described as amicable.
Amazons Mr. & Mrs Smith, based on Angelina Jolie's 2005 film, was set to enter production in 2022. Waller-Bridge originally intended to executive produce the series with Glover.
They appeared together previously in Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). Many fans were excited to see their pairing for Mr. and Mrs. Smith on Instagram back in February.
Waller-Bridge is currently working on the yet untitled fifth Indiana Jones movie. Filming began in June. Glover's Atlanta TV series will return to FX in the first half 2022, despite some delays.
