House Republicans warned Marissa Mayer, Yahoo CEO, not to comply January riot-related records requests.
However, Mayer is no longer the CEO of the telecom giant.
Verizon Media, which includes Yahoo!, was sold to a private equity firm in May. Guru Gowrappan is the CEO.

House Republicans sent Marissa Mayer a letter, describing her as the "President and Chief Executive Officer of Yahoo", warning her about legal action if the company did not hand over any private data to the committee investigating the January 6th riot.
Yahoo's CEO Mayer is no longer Mayer. She resigned in 2017 after five years of trying to save the media giant from its steady decline. She also resigned from the board of Yahoo and is now running Lumi Labs, a startup.
This is the 13th letter that GOP congressional leaders sent telecommunication giants. They threatened "legal remedies" if they did not comply with the House Select Committee which is investigating the January insurrection at US Capitol.
According to Andy Biggs, a signer of the letter, Amazon, Apple and Facebook received the letters as well as Google and other tech giants, including Google.
In June, the House approved a plan for a partisan select panel to investigate the January attack that resulted in five deaths. The group requested 35 telecom and social media companies preserve data and phone records of certain individuals, including members of Trump's family and those who were charged in relation to the riot that occurred on January 11.
These new letters, which were designed by Republican architects, would be in violation of federal law. They "would place every American with a telephone or computer in the crosshairs a surveillance state run Democrat politicians," House Minority Leader Kein McConnell said last week.
CNN reported that many of the letter's signees including Reps. Matt Gaetz from Florida and Marjorie Taylor Greene, of Georgia, could be among those whose records may be requested.
Verizon purchased Yahoo in 2017 and combined it with AOL. The pair were rebranded as Oath with Guru Gowrappan, an Alibaba alum, serving as CEO.
Oath would be renamed Verizon Media later. This year, the news broke that Oath, which also includes Yahoo, AOL and TechCrunch, was being sold by private equity firm Apollo Global Management. Business Insider reported that Gowrappan will continue to be the CEO of the entity.
