Rep. Jim Jordan, a Republican lawmaker, is calling for President Joe Biden's resignation over US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan.

"The events in Afghanistan were wrong. It was horrible. It was not surprising, but it isn't surprising. What has this man done right?" Ordan spoke on Fox News' "Justice with Jeanine" Saturday. "Everything that this guy touches, it turns bad. "That's why I suggested he should resign."

Thirteen service personnel were killed, Americans and allies left behind, billions in equipment and weapons missing, and Americans left behind. He said that some Afghans who arrived in America weren't properly vetted."

The August 31 deadline for the withdrawal of all US troops in Afghanistan by Biden prompted a quick Taliban takeover. Biden stated in a press conference that the Taliban would not be able to take control of Afghanistan, just days after Kabul was seized by the Taliban.

Despite his prediction, things quickly escalated and Americans and Afghans have tried for weeks to flee Taliban-controlled areas. The Biden administration responded by frantically trying desperately to evacuate Americans from the country.

However, US rescue efforts ran into obstacles along the way. There was a Kabul airport attack that claimed 13 lives and injured an estimated 169 Afghans.

Jordan joined a growing number of Republicans calling for Biden to resign. At least 20 House Republicans, conservative figures, including former South Carolina Governor Josh Hawley, have called for Biden's resignation. Nikki Haley and Tennessee Sen. MarshaBlackburn called for Biden to resign.

Jen Psaki, White House Press Secretary, dismissed the calls on August 26.

She said that she believed this was the first day in which US service personnel have been "killed at the hands terrorists".

"It's not an occasion for politics. We would expect any American to stand with us in our commitments to fighting terrorists wherever they are located and honoring the memories of service personnel. "And that's why this day is for," Psaki said.
