Manager Dave Roberts stated that AJ Pollock, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder, will be absent for a minimum of two to three more weeks following a right hamstring strain suffered in Saturday's 6-1 win over San Francisco Giants.
Pollock had already scored a run and doubled in the second inning. He was then hurt when he tried to steal third base and fell awkwardly into third. He grinned and grabbed his right leg. He was eventually taken off the field.
Roberts stated that early signs suggest Pollock was suffering from a Grade 2 strain.
"I don’t want to speculate." He said that he knew it wasn't good and added that Pollock would be reevaluated on Sunday. It's an obvious loss in any capacity. ... We'll just have to see where we are tomorrow, but at the very least it's going be a few weeks."
Roberts said, "He's a man you can plug into every day. He hits right, left, drives runs in, and gets on base. He has just brought so much to our club. It will be difficult to fill these shoes."
Cody Bellinger took over for Pollock and played center-field, while Chris Taylor moved to the left.
Pollock, who is 33 years old, was injured in his left hamstring and missed 18 games this season. This season, he is batting at.296 with 16 homers as well as 58 RBIs.
The Dodgers have won 21 of 26 games in their last 26 games and are now tied for first place with San Francisco at the top of the NL West division.
